Dharmagirl of bliss: towards a delicious lifechose this killing tarte that I decided to make even more killing adding some whipped mascarpone and cocoa meringues from the last Daring Bakers' Challenge.

I used the chocolate shortcrust as the base which I cooked using some parchement to ensure an easy 'exit'.
Wonderful choice Dharmagirl !!

TWD : Banana Coconut Ice Cream Pie

Spike of
spikebakes chose this wonderful no bake recipe this week and even if I have a wonderful ice cream place just around the corner I decided to make Dorie's Chocolate Ganache ice cream (wonderful !!).

I used an unsweetened coconut for the crust letting the cookies be the only sweetener and actually made half the crust dose.
I had problems figuring out how much is a pint of chocolate ice cream and in the end eyeballed it when adding it to the bananas.
I loved my slice: we'll see tonight what the rest of the family thinks.
Please visit Spike for the recipe and the other bakers for more Ice cream pie.

TWD Creamiest Lime Cream Meringue Pie

Linda of Tender Crumb this Tuesday decided on Creamiest Lime Cream Meringue Pie and I wonder why I've never tried it before !!! This pie was exactly what we needed in this oven summer !!! Andrea, who usually tries my sweet baking for love's sake, became obsessed with this pie and asked it for his birthday in November !!
I made the crust with the Graham Crakers and followed the instructions very carefully : it took forever to reach the custard temp !!! I used a plumming torch to brown the meringue and we almost set the house on fire but it was well worth it ! Thanks again to Linda, please visit the TWD blogroll !!

TWD Banana Cream Tartlets

This week Amy of Sing for your Supper chose the recipe and I'm so glad because this pie didn't have any appeal for me but I realized (and Andrea and our friend who made them vanish in seconds) how wrong I was !!
I made half recipe in tartlet shape using a leftover pie crust that I had frozen , making the cream and the custard was very easy and fast.

TWD Thanksgiving Twofer Pie

We are getting into holydays and the first to be baked is Twofer Pie ! The recipe was chosen by Vibi of La Casserole Carree and what could be more appropriate than this one! Few weeks ago getting ready for it I asked my dear husband to buy some pecans (and dried cranberries, you never know!) in a special drugstore near his work. I didn't have problems with the recipe, maybe I didn't have enough crust to make some decorations but I had read on the Q&A section of Tuesdays with Dorie that more than one of us had to much filling so I decided to roll what was supposed to become a 9 inch crust in an 11 inch pan and that was it (I made more neighbours happy). Please check the wonderful results on TWD blogroll and don't worry if you don't see them on tuesday as we are allowed a late (for Thanksgiving) posting.
