TWD : Classic Brownies

My dear Twd friends I'm coming back to my oven and to my blog with this classic and loved recipe. I sure hope to be able to keep baking and posting, I certainly wish to bake all the past twd recipes that I missed.

I baked these brownies almost as directed only substituting the hazelnuts to the walnuts and the rice oil for the butter (which is something I'm trying to do as often as I can to control our cholesterol level). I loved they fudgy center contrasting with the crunchy nuts.

The recipe was chosen by Anne of Anne Strawberry and she'll post the recipe for you.
Please visit the LYL section of the TWD site to see more versions of this recipe.

TWD : Honey Nut Brownies

I feel like the Groundhog finally coming out...let's see !
Suzy of My Suzy Homemaker chose this recipe and, I know I repeat myself, everytime I'm surprised and think that Dorie's book is like Mary Poppins bag : wonderful recipe keep coming out !
I used a very special honey : Sulla (hedysarum coronarium ) now....please do not ask me how the brownies were because I'm on a strict diet and didn't taste a crumb ! But I saw my family eating them with a smile and happy neighbours too.
I had read on the P&Q that they were a bit cakey so I cooked the brownies a bit less and I think they were very good.
If you happen to be around here give me a buzz and I'll be happy to share some cookies too !!

Please visit Suzy for the recipe and the blogroll for more honeys !

TWD : Brrrownies

Karen of Welcome to our Crazy Blessed Life selected Brrrr-ownies now I never had a York pattie or even consciently saw one so I decided to use a peppermint extract and go for a smaller pan.
I loved the smell of these Brownies (a bit like After Eight) and their consistency.
They were part of our feast for my in-laws and were gone in seconds !!
Please visit Karen for the recipe and go here for more brrrownies !

TWD : White Chocolate Brownies

This was our very sweet Dutch friend Marthe's week, she chose this recipe because the sound of it it's fantastic but I'm sure she didn't imagine all the trouble we all went through !
I'm joking no big deal, it's only baking but we all dream of getting near perfection and this time it was harder.

There were several problems: the biggest one was cooking time the others being not trusting the double turn of the meringue, rasperry sinking, too sweet, no chocolate and (mine only) my cat right now sitting exactly in front of the monitor!
My luck was that I'm very pressed for work in these days so I've just finished my brownies/blondies/whity and took advantage of all my fellow friend's advise.

I processed my almonds with the sugar until very fine like Nancy and Mary suggested in the P&Q section of our site.
I did beat the eggs like crazy as Clivia suggested.
I didn't even dream of tilting my brownies like many of us.
I topped them with the meringue after a while that the base was cooking, and used muffin and mini muffin pans like our gracious host Marthe did.
I made half recipe like many others.
I diminished the sugar because I don't like sweets too sweet.

Even with all these issues I really did enjoy these brownies, that do not even take too long to prepare, and have a very fancy face !
Please visit Marthe at Culinary Delights for the recipe.
BEDANKT MARTHE !!!

TWD : Rick Katz’s Brownies for Julia

This week I was sure we were going to eat chocolate ! The recipe was chosen by Tanya of Chocolatechic and she delighted us with this special brownies recipe, I loved the results as the brownies were lighter than usual even if not less sinful !!!

The recipe is quite simple, as a pose to my usual recipe you need to use the mixer bowl too but it's no big deal.
My brownie are fudgier but I'm not sure if I overcooked these I'll have to visit the others to check ! Visit Tanya for the recipe !!

Sweet and Simple Bakes: Snow-Flecked Brownies

This month this is the wonderful recipe Maria and Rose chose for us.
You can be sure that their recipes are as the group's name implies: in fact they are a joy to bake even if you do not have time !!
Even if Maria warned us not to I split the recipe and diminished the sugar a little bit the results are fantastic !
Please visit the site from the 2nd to see more brownies !

here is the recipe :
Snow-Flecked Brownies

Ingredients
375g best quality dark chocolate
375g unsalted butter at room temperature
1 tablespoon real vanilla extract
6 eggs (large)
350g caster sugar (superfine)
1 teaspoon salt
225g plain flour
250g white chocolate buttons or chips, or white chocolate chopped into chunks (or your own choice of chocolate)
2 tsp icing sugar, for dusting

Tin measuring approx 33cm x 23cm x 5.5cm

Preheat the oven to 180C/Gas 4/350F.

Line the sides and base of a 33 x 23 x 5.5com baking tin with foil or baking parchment.

Melt the butter and dark chocolate together in a large heavy based pan.

In a bowl or wide mouthed large measuring jug, beat the eggs together with the caster sugar and vanilla extract.

Allow the chocolate mixture to cool a little, then add the egg and sugar mixture and beat well. Fold in the flour and salt. Then stir in the white chocolate buttons or choped white chocolate. Beat to combine then scrape and pour the brownie mixture into the prepared tin.

Bake for 25 minutes, You can see when the brownies are ready because the top dries to a slightly paler brown speckle, while the middle remains dark, dense and gooey. Even with such a big batch you do need to keep checking on it: the difference between gungey brownies and dry ones is only a few minutes. Remember, too, that they will continue to cook as they cool.

To serve, cut into squares while still warm and pile up on a large plate, sprinkling with icing sugar pushed with a teaspoon through a small sieve.

TWD Espresso Cheesecake Brownies

Now I realize It's impossible to understand this is exactly the recipe in the title but you'll have to trust me !! I brought it to my mother's and I forgot to take my camera along !
These brownies were chosen by Melissa of Life in a Peanut Shell and we really enjoied them, I think they werent as fudgy as usually brownies are because of the baking powder (or maybe I made some mistake) but the cheesecake part was fabulous !! If I'll make them another time I won't make the 'frosting': the marbled swils were so much cuter and I don't think the flavour needed it, but again probably I'm wrong !! Hope you will enjoy as much wandering around in theblogroll
