TFF: The Ultimate Beef Stew

And here I come back to my dear Tyler ! This 'spezzatino' was a very conforting dish for the first cool nights.

I used veal instead of beef and onions instead of the pearl ones, and I didn't have the mushrooms but it was good anyway !! I didn't mention the horseradish either......!

TFF: Fried Mozzarella and Zucchini and Spaghetti with Summer Squash and Tomatoes

As you know I 'use Tyler's recipe with what I have at home and this time even in a hurry with an unexpected and most welcome guest. in fact Andrea told me an hour before that our dear friend Maite from Bilbao was coming for lunch so I headed to my computer and sent him to get some mozzarella and here we are with a warm appetizer and a colorful pasta !!

I suggest you to eat the mozzarella bites when they are hot they are so good !! Tyler fries other items too but I didn't have them on hand !

As for the pasta I used zucchini and pumpkin we don't get summer squash in Italy and I really can't understand why, when I lived in Santa Barbara I ate them quite often , I shoul get some seeds and plant them !!

TFF Teriyaki_Glazed Pork Spare Ribs

Another week and another great 'supper saver' by our friend Tyler !!

As you have noticed all my Tyler's horrible photos are made in the kitchen at dinner time just before the dishes are assaulted by my beloved family ! Sorry !

I loved the recipe and it was faster than the one you find here because I used already divided ribs (here it is very uncommon to find a whole piece) .

TFF Baked Rigatoni with Eggplant and Sausage

Each week I really try to make one of Tyler Florence's recipes (mostly with the ingredents I have on hand) because we always love them so much !!

This week's choice (due to the huge eggplant amount) was Baked Rigatoni with Eggplant and Sausage , here you will find the recipe, which was very easy and tasty, I had lot of goat ricotta too so I used it instead of the mozzarella.

TFF Chili night

I'm finally back to Tyler's recipes with another success !!

I had two corn cobs around so I found his recipe for a Corn Pudding that sounded very nice, then my brother called saying they were coming to Rome for a few days so I decided for 'the works' and I made his Chili as well.

I must confess right away that other than growing them myself I wouldn't know wher I could find all the wonderful peppers I needed so I just substituted them with italian hot chili but the results were very nice even so.

My brother is a botanist and I always tell my children he knows Everything which is 'almost' true in fact he told us how the power of hot peppers is classified, and how they lately found a super duper hot chili in India ( the guinnes winning chili mesured with the Scoville test ). He wanted to order some seeds for the Botanical Garden of Perugia University where he works but I don't think I'll have the gut to ever try it !!!

TFF The Ultimate Barbecued Chicken

This week I could luckily try another of Tyler's delightful food : Barbecued Chicken !
I know I'm repeating myself but what I like of his recipe is that I can make something new, fast and good with what I have already at home like this chicken.
The brine made it even more moist and tender and the sauce is so good ! I had cooked a couple thights without sauce for the children but they wanted ours instead and Anita dipped the potatoes in the sauce !!

TFF Tyler's Ultimate Fish Tacos

Each month on Tyler Florence Fridays Megan choses a special recipe and this month was this wonderful tacos.
I didn't use Mahi Mahi (I don't think I even knew it existed !) but plain cod's filets and I couldn't find the adobo sauce anywhere but , still, these tacos were really great ! The children loved them too so what could have been better ?
Tyler Florence is teaching me a lot on how to fry fish. I had never tried Panko but they are wonderful, much better than the usual 'crumbs' !!!!

TFF Fish and Chips with Home made Tartare Sauce

This week we tried fish with Tyler and , as always, we weren't disappointed !!
The recipe was Fish and Chips with Homemade Tartare Sauce .
It is easy to make, the batter for the fried fish is really fantastic, I'll keep it for the future and I'll try it for vegetables too.

TFF Sweet Chile Tofu Fried Rice

I really must thank Nancy for discovering this nice group because I had never even heard of Tyler Florence and now that I'm getting to know him I think he is great ! He makes nice food but his recipes are simple to follow with good new ways and they are always a success at our home !! This week I chose this recipe it has a wonderful oriental flavour and is so simple and fast you can make it in minutes.

TFF February Challenge Potato Gnocchi with Peas Prosciutto and Ricotta

This Tyler Florence monthly challenge chosen by Megan was great !!
Being Italian I made and eat gnocchi very often !! And I had never heard of Tyler Florence's method for it : cooking the potatoes in the oven and adding baking powder, egg white and grated parmigiano in the dough.
But I'm very curious about new methods and recipes and so I tried it and I must admit it was a great success !
It was such a nice meal and even Andrea who doesn't like gnocchi too much, because they are often too dense, enjoyed it !
