BBA Slow and Steady : French Bread

I know it may seem that I don't know my alphabeth and posted kaiser rolls before french bread, but my first french bread was so awful I had to wait a few days to try it again !!
I used Pate Fermentèe and a little yeast and I'm afraid I overfproofed it a bit or I'm very bad in slashing or both.
The bread was fabulous anyway and I really want to make it another tons of time so I'll get to know its secrets !

The wonderful Nancy recently posted the Slow and Steady roundup for the Cranberry Walnut Celebration Bread ... we are moving on !
To check all the bakers of the big group go here !

I need to make mine again. They weren't very brown so put them back in oven - instant croutons. Oh, well. The interior of that bread looks fantastic.

They look fantastic! I never made French bread, I think I should start to think seriously about this.

Look how beautiful your bread looks! The crumb looks lovely. I could picture myself buying that bread at a bakery -- that's how perfect it looks!

I had the same experience, not brown enough the first time. So I made it again. Better, but I think I need more practice.
