TWD Chocolate Caramel Chesnut Cake

This week's choice was made by Katya of Second Dinner and she chose this spectacular cake that would be at ease in any very special occasion. As it was a chesnut cake I decided to make it chesnut shaped .

To make this recipe you need to prepare several things but they can all be made in advance.
Luckily chesnuts are in season so I bought the fresh ones and boiled them with some bay leaf.

I was ready to assemble the cake yesterday when I was hit by the flu (which one?) so I postponed the two cakes until now... do you like my motobike?
Please visit all the others TWDers who may have baked a different recipe as this is a special month.

the motor bike cake looks like fun.

And the chestnut cake looks delicious. I will probably go with hazelnuts if I make it. No chestnuts here in Podunk, USA

Your chestnut cake looks luscious! I love the photo of the slice where you can see the two layers of ganache.

I like the chestnut shape. I don't see the chopped chestnuts between the layers. I'm thinking that's a good thing. Should have chopped mine much finer so they would not be so obvious. It was delicious, wasn't it.

Never made chestnut cake although it is in my list to make for along time. I suppose I should try it soon. Your cakes look cute, and yes I notice that moto-bike too. It's very cute. Hope your flu is going away by now. I think it's the season. Everyone seems getting flu.

What a fun bike cake! And I love how your chestnut cake turned out. So great that you can buy them fresh. They're almost extinct in the US, though we can buy them imported from Italy (and probably priced like the cranberries you found at the Campo de Fiori!)
