This week it was Barbara's turn to choose and she chose these cookies that are fast and can easily be decorated for the holidays.
I usually am very optimistic but after this failure I'm afraid I can't bake these kind of cookies without spreading !! (it happened with the world peace cookies and with the molasses ones !)
I made the hazelnuts variation and left a log in the freezer for a quick treat (spread) in the future !
Please visit Barbara for the recipe and the TWDers for more variations.
I'm kind of tired today (for us it is a festive day that remembers the Immaculate Conception of Jesus and the children had a 'bridge' and didn't go to school neither yesterday) because I baked a lot starting from this cake on Friday for a friend's birthday (the recipe is here)

How fun!! The kids must have enjoyed wearing those hats and decorating the cup cakes. T
Sorry the cookies didn't turn out for you. They look good in the photo. Love the chocolate cake! You have been busy! Hope you get a break soon. :)
happy belated to her!!! looks like fun!
Natalia, there must be a problem with either the weight conversion or the butter you use. European butter has less water than American butter, so I think you can try to decrease the butter by an ounce or so, or slightly increase the amount of flour. The world peace cookies spread very little, I am surprised that they didn't work for you (did you compare the recipe from Dorie's site?). I have had the same problem once, I know the recipe has been written wrong, because I tried it twice.
Forgot to say...Tanti Augury Anita!
Hahaha that party is so cute! Happy birthday to Anita!
How fun! I love weekends full of baking and cooking and friends :) Sorry your sables spread though :(
You have so many wonderful things going on, a few spreading cookies seems hardly noticeable. Good work!
Some of my cookies spread too, but they still tasted good. The birthday party looks very fun!
I love all of your pictures...and I think Anita is adorable. SOunds like a fun filled weekend. Hazelnut sables sound delicious!!!!
Oh My goodness, Anita is so cute. Happy Birthday t such a pretty girl.
Love everything you made here Natalia.
Thank you for baking along with me this week! My, you've been busy!
I think Laura's comment about the difference between USA butter and European butter is right on target. Butter here is a bit lower in butterfat and that can make a difference in a very buttery cookie like this one! Better luck next time!
Yeah... I know the feeling... when you need 8 arms and 2 heads! LOL LOL
Love seeing pictures of your oh! so cute daughter!
Great baking Natalia, sablés, cake and all! Brava!
