TWD Lemon Cup Custard

Hi there !! We got to Lemon Cup Custard thanks to Bridget of The Way the Cookie Crumbles . Last week I checked the P & Q and found out that many people found this dessert 'too eggy' and 'not lemony' so I thought to be clever and used half milk and half cream and used the zest of two big lemons !

But I must say the lemon wasn't almost there !! The taste it was very smooth and mild a bit like creme caramel (a dessert you find everywhere in old fashioned pizzerie and restaurants in Roma, actually I think its The Dessert before Tiramisù) but without the dark brown caramel at the bottom (or top if they are refined enough to invert it !). I don't think I'll make it again but ...you never know !!
Please check the TWD blogroll for more and more !

  4. Mine tasted like creme caramel too, but we loved it. Everybody seems to think there wasn't enough lemon flavor. I might try a ginger variation next time. Love the way your custard looks!

  5. Natalia your photos are amazingly beautiful this week! Sorry I opted out on this one. But I will make the cake next week and be back on board with everyone. I just wasn't in the mood for egg custard anything.

  6. Your custard looks great, Natalia! For whatever reason it seems like the flavor (lemon, vanilla, whatever) did really want to come through on this one. It was fun to try, though!

  7. Same deal with me - I upped the lemon and it still wasn't very lemony!
    Yours sure looks nice though!

  8. This is really the case of the disappearing lemon. So many people have had the same issue. It's quite crazy, really. I like your changes, and I'm sure they enhanced the texture! Great pics.

  10. Natalia,
I have the feeling that you like lemon zest a lot, I almost put lemon zest on everything, that's how much I love lemon and lemon zest. With the amount of lemon zest I see here, I can imagine how delicious this custard must be.

  16. Sorry you didn't care for it. Lots didn't. I actually did, but the taste was a little 'mild' to say the least. Next time, more flavor. Love the pic with the mint.
